5 Reasons Instagram Continues to Grow in 2016

Social media platforms come and go just like any other trend. Today I’m going to dive into one of my favorite social media platforms: Instagram.
Let’s start with a brief background on this engine and see how they got to where they are today.
Started on October 6 of 2010, the platform picked up a million users in its first two months and was destined to be a major player from its humble beginnings. In less than a year, they earned their 150th millionth upload. In September of 2011, the company released version 2.0 and less than a week after that announcement, the company announced that they'd reached 10 million users.

7 Ways to Generate More Sales Using LinkedIn

As someone who makes his living teaching professionals how to utilize LinkedIn to generate more business for themselves, I remain convinced that the platform is one of the most exciting - and misunderstood - business opportunities available right now.
For whatever reason, LinkedIn can't seem to shake the notion that it's "only" a place to find a job or hire a new employee.
But as I've learned spending 48 straight months selling products and services on the site, LinkedIn is one of the biggest (and best) opportunities online right now for you to generate oodles of sales leads, add new clients and land new business.

6 Social Media Rules That Will Steer You Clear of Failure

Whether you're playing with sticks in the backyard or building a Twitter presence, the old adage "it’s all fun and games until someone loses an eye" couldn't be more true.
Oh yes dear readers, don't fool yourselves. Social media marketing may seem relatively harmless and quaint, but there are oh so many ways it can all go wrong.
If we’re being honest this is arguably the case for anyone in a customer-facing role, but the faceless and large-scale nature of social media makes it a touch easier to go sideways without realizing it.
Given how easy it can be to become the next social media fail story, let’s educate ourselves about how NOT to behave on social media. Because no one wants to be the next Amy’s Baking Company.

The Sound Of Victory Against An Army Of LawBreakers ~Olusegun Adegbenro

At the start of this week as events unfold itself, as the conversation ensues beyond mythical stick of silence of Nigerians, the thought of President Muhammed Buhari doing this for the soul of Nigeria glides over and over. At first, during his electioneering campaign, I use to believe the worm of corruption is more than bespectacled and cannot be cut open by anyone except holy Jesus. Gore Vidal words will not navigate the thought when he says "By the time a man gets to be presidential material, he has been bought several times over".  Until this growing activities of EFCC, anti graft agencies, members of DSS, Nigerian Army, and other true advocate of change decided to show up Mr President body language is totally against these thieves.

Nigeria is faced by reveling conversations that won't go away since the inception of the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari. #Ekitigate #BringBackOurBudget #PartyKickingagainstNassPolitics #BudgetPadding #FuelScarcity #PowerScarcity #AntiCorruptionCrusade

60 Seconds to Success: How to Use Instagram's New 60-Second Video Option

Instagram certainly rocked the social marketing boat these last couple of weeks with their announcement that your feed will soon be curated by an algorithm instead of by which accounts you follow and when they upload. Suddenly, everyone was drowning in requests to “turn on notifications if you still want to see my posts”, which mostly resulted in an unpleasant barrage of notifications on your phone. In the panic, Instagram cautioned everyone to calm down, that testing phase isn’t over yet, and an official rollout won’t happen for months.
But on the heels of that announcement came Instagram’s video play. Previously, their videos for regular users were limited to 15 seconds. Now, a wide rollout is planned for 60-second videos. Why the big jump? Well, people are watching a whole lot more video, for one. Engadget reports that the number of people watching video on Instagram jumped 40% in the last six months.

The 4 Key Team Members You Need to Achieve Content Marketing Success

It wasn’t too long ago that marketing your business online all by yourself, using just a few minutes of free time you shaved from your lunch break each day, seemed feasible. Even just a few years ago, creating content felt like a fairly simple processmaintain a blog, update it regularly with a quick post or two, and you’re all set to generate leads. Maybe, if you’re really ambitious, run a social media account or two. Now? Not so much.
The challenges of building a brand online have rapidly grown in a very short period of time. People across the business world have quickly latched onto the idea that “content is king,” and it hasn’t taken long for content marketing to become a massive field with a lot of voices, all of them desperately crying out to be heard.

Argentina and Barcelona star Lionel Messi remains the world’s highest paid footballer with an annual income of 74 million euros ($84.3 million, £59.3 million), according to a report set to appear in Tuesday’s edition of France Football magazine.
Messi’s earnings in 2015 rose by nine million euros compared to the previous figures, keeping the five-time Ballon d’Or winner ahead of Cristiano Ronaldo (67.4m euros) and Neymar (43.5m euros) as the top three stayed unchanged for the third year running.
France Football’s estimates were based on players’ pre-tax salaries, sponsorship revenues and various bonuses, it added.
Angel Di Maria was the top-earning player in France with 24 million euros following his off-season move from Manchester United, with the Argentine narrowly ahead of Paris Saint-Germain team-mates Thiago Silva and Zlatan Ibrahimovic.
However, figures in France only accounted for player wages and contract bonuses, according to the report.
Despite his sacking from Chelsea in December, Jose Mourinho was the highest earning coach on 24 million euros, with Pep Guardiola and Fabio Capello rounding out the top three.

Information was always reckoned as power and will continue to be so. However the tables have now turned in favor of media consumers. As the trends reflect, it will now be the people's turn to be empowered, as Media will be more and more people-centric. Media probably will have no choice but to take up issues concerning the common man, to survive in a highly competitive world with fleeting viewer/reader loyalties. This was the lesson learnt at the maiden edition of Social Media Clinic powered by Social Media Solutions under the leadership of Mr. Sunday Dare, (an award-winning investigative reporter, multi-media journalist, media trainer, academic researcher). The event took place at Bogobiri Art House, Ikoyi, Lagos. The theme of the Program was titled ''For Every Right; There Is A Responsibility.
There is no gainsaying the fact that it is mass media that have truly globalized the human race - creating a seamless world that transcends artificial barriers of geography and economic, political and social divide. Media have empowered people like nothing else. The Internet provides the knowledge of the entire world at the touch of a button.

The story of Regoe Alfredo Durugo popularly called Mama Makoko.

Mama Makoko with children of Makoko slum PHOTO: Women of Rubies
Nigeria abounds with the story of unknown and unsung women making impact and creating change in their respective communities and spheres of influence. With little or no resources, they are taking the initiatives to illuminate the lives of others despite being engulfed in darkness. This is what women of rubies is about. It’s about telling the tales of unsung Nigerian heroines.
Today, we bring to you the story of Regoe Alfredo Durugo popularly called Mama Makoko. This woman with a heart of gold goes from house to house in Makoko community, a slum located in Lagos recruiting less privileged children to get an education. Every day she paddles her canoe with stubborn determination, taking children who hitherto are uneducated and illuminating their minds with formal education. For more than 25 years, she has been able to send more than 5000 children to school in the riverine Makoko converting the townhall into a makeshift classroom, employing and paying young teachers with the little she makes from her catering job. Going to Makoko wasn’t an easy journey, but Easy Taxi made it convenient and comfortable

This is her story!
I came into this community called Oko Agbon for evangelism not with the intention to educate the children. When I got here, I realized the level of education here is poor; this made me decide to start teaching these kids. This was around 1990. I have made some previous mistakes, I did not start here, I started in Bariga waterfront that was 1987, before I moved to this place. Getting here, I realized they need me here because the problems were just too much. As a result of my work, I get called different names like Mama Makoko, the light of Makoko, Mama Yaba, and Mama Nigeria.
