Kidnap: Ekiti industrialist released

An Ekiti-based industrialist, Moses Ajogri, who was one of the five persons kidnapped recently in Ekiti State has regained his freedom.  

 

He was released to rejoin his family late Thursday night. 

 

It could not be confirmed if a ransom was paid to secure his release.

Ekiti family to sue Fayose, monarch over demolition

The family of late Pa Omotoso of Afao Ekiti has threatened to sue Governor Ayodele Fayose, the monarch of the town, Oba Joseph Ademilua, and members of his council for demolishing their family house.

The eldest son, Mr. David Omotoso, who spoke with journalists in Ado Ekiti accused the governor of demolishing the house located beside the Alafao new palace because of their political differences.

Omotosho is the Secretary of the All Progressives Congress in Amuwo/Odofin, Lagos State.

Yekini died at the age of 48 in May, 2012 after a longtime  illness leaving behind a series of properties in the care of his lawyer Jubril Olanrewaju Mohamed.

The scrambling for the properties of Yekini was brought to light by Jubril who spoke to Premium Times.

Jubril revealed that Yekini willed his properties to his two legitimate daughters but his other family members want some piece of it. 

FG plans N300m hostel for flood disaster victims

The Federal Government has disclosed plans to construct two blocks of hostels in Makurdi, the Benue State capital, valued at N300m to provide shelter for victims of the 2012 flood disaster in the state.

The project is expected to be completed within six months in the 22 states affected by the disaster using the same format.

The Blue legend passed away in his sleep on Thursday night, May 14 at his Las Vegas home.

In early May, King announced on his personal website that he had entered hospice care in his home after having to be hospitalized twice for high blood pressure and his long battle with diabetes.

In Malaysia 30-year-old Nigerian woman gets death penalty for drug traffiking

The Malaysian High Court has sentenced to death a 30-year-old Nigerian, Mary George Unazi for drug trafficking.

The presiding judge, Datuk Ghazali Cha, gave Mary a death penalty on Thursday, May 14 for trafficking 765.9gm of metamphetamine at the KL International Airport (KLIA) on May 10th 2011.

In Abuja Bureau of Statistics: 26.6m Nigerians unemployed

The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) on Thursday, May 14, released new statistics which shows that 22.6 million Nigerians were unemployed in the fourth quarter of 2014.

The Statistician-General of the Federation, Dr. Yemi Kale, disclosed this in Abuja at the Unemployment Methodology Review forum.
