Malam Garba Shehu seeks public understanding

Malam Garba Shehu, the Senior Special Assistant (Media and Publicity) to President Muhammadu Buhari has called for the understanding of the public as the President took time to form his cabinet.
Shehu had sought the patience of the public on Monday in Abuja while fielding questions from newsmen on the issue.

He said the president must be left alone and given sufficient time to select members of his cabinet.

Japan to build 225 classrooms in Oyo

The Japanese International Donor Agency on Tuesday approved the construction of 225 classrooms in Oyo State.

Mr Ninami Naoyuki, the leader of the Japanese delegation, disclosed this during a courtesy call on Governor Abiola Ajimobi in Ibadan.

Tension in Ekiti as plans to impeach Fayose thicken

SOME alleged members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and commercial motorcyclists yesterday reportedly blocked all roads leading to Ekiti State and some inter-city roads in the capital, Ado Ekiti, to prevent the 19 All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmakers from entering the city.

Ostensibly acting on the information that the APC lawmakers would arrive the town yesterday to continue their impeachment plot against Governor Ayodele Fayose, some suspected thugs also barricaded all roads leading to the state House of Assembly, shooting sporadically into the air to scare people away from the complex.

FIFA President Blatter resigns

Sepp Blatter has resigned as president of football's governing body Fifa amid a corruption scandal.

In announcing his exit, the 79-year-old Swiss has called an extraordinary Fifa congress "as soon as possible" to elect a new president.

NDLEA formally applies for Buruji Kashamu extradition to US

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has formally applied for the extradition of embattled Senator-elect, Buruji Kashamu to the US.

The agency said further that the notice of said application had been served on Kashamu.

This was disclosed on Tuesday, June 2, 2015, by NDLEA spokesperson, Mitchell Ofoyeju.
