Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala Finance Minister receives honorary doctorate from Yale University

Nigeria’s Ministry of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has received an honorary doctorate degree from the prestigious Yale University in Connecticut, US.

Dr Okonjo-Iweala named a Doctor of Humane Letters on Monday, May 18, 2015 during Yale's Commencement ceremony.

On its website, Yale wrote about the minister saying:

Five dead, 43 injured in Afghan bombing

At least five people have been killed by a bomb in the parking lot of Afghanistan’s justice ministry building in Kabul, according to several officials.

Reuters news agency confirmed citing Sediq Sediqqi, spokesperson for the interior ministry, that five people were dead and several more wounded in Tuesday’s blast.

Nigeria’s Gboyega stars to Hollywood

NIGERIA’S John Gboyega has risen to fame by reason of his acting talent and a will to succeed — shooting as far as the biggest roles in Hollywood.

This came after another Nigerian, David Oyelowo, featured prominently in the 2014 Selma, a chronicle of Martin Luther King’s campaign to secure equal voting rights through an epic march from Selma to Montgomery, Alabama in 1965.

Northern govs elect Shettima as new chairman

The governors of the 19 northern states under the aegis of the Northern Governors’ Forum, on Monday, elected the Borno State Governor, Kashim Shettima, as the group’s new chairman.

Shettima replaces the outgoing Governor of Niger State, Aliyu Babangida, whose tenure ends this month.

The Kano State governor-elect, Abdullahi Ganduje, also emerged as the vice chairman of the forum.

Abuja Corper who went missing has been found

Mofe Solomon Aghaye, the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, who went missing last week, has been found.

The Obafemi Awolowo University Alumni, who went missing Thursday 7th of May, 2015, was found on Monday the 18th.

Jonathan signs N4.425tn 2015 budget

President Goodluck Jonathan has signed the 2015 Appropriation Bill into law.

The Senate had passed the 2015 budget on April 28, following the passage of the same bill by the House of Representatives on April 23, with an expenditure outlay of N4.493tn, up from the N4.425tn proposed by the Executive.
